Welcome to the CookieBaner Help Center

This documentation will guide you step by step through the installation, configuration, and integration of the plugin with Google Consent Mode V2. Our script is designed to run 100% locally on your WordPress server, ensuring full data privacy.

1. Installation and license activation

Before you start, make sure you have an active subscription and have downloaded the .zip plugin file.

Log in to your WordPress admin panel (/wp-admin).
Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
Select the downloaded cookiebaner.zip file and click Install.
After installation, click Activate Plugin.
A new menu item CookieBaner will appear in the sidebar. Go to Settings → License.
Paste your license key (available in your My Account under License Keys) and click Activate.

2. Quick start (Plug & Play)

CookieBaner is designed to save time and require no technical knowledge. After installation and license activation, the banner works immediately.

No complex setup is required. Right after activation:

Displays a legally compliant cookie banner.
Sets analytics and marketing cookies to “rejected” by default until user consent (GDPR requirement).
Starts protecting your website instantly.

3. Automatic Google Consent Mode V2

No need for additional switches or integrations — CookieBaner natively supports Google Consent Mode V2 (required e.g. for Google Ads) out of the box.

Automatically sends consent signals (granted / denied) to the Data Layer.
No extra blocking scripts are required.
Important (GTM users): Ensure your tags have “Built-in Consent Checks” enabled in Google Tag Manager. The plugin handles everything else.

4. Cookie scanner and categorization

Everything runs locally on your server.

Go to Cookie Scanner.
Click Start scanning. The plugin will analyze your site for scripts.
After scanning, you will see detected cookies. Common cookies (e.g. _ga, _fbp) are automatically categorized.
Unclassified scripts appear in Unclassified and must be assigned manually.

5. Appearance customization

Make CookieBaner match your brand.

Go to Appearance & Content.
Colors: adjust primary color, background, and text.
Layout: choose bottom bar or centered popup.
Texts: fully editable content, including buttons and policy links.

6. Subscription & license management

All licenses are managed from your customer panel:

Download latest version,
Check subscription status,
Move license to another domain,
Download VAT invoices.
